Early Tuesday night, the forums at VWVortex were forced to be taken offline while a lawsuit over the forum software.
Jamie Vondruska from VWVortex posted a letter on the active side of VWVortex’s website. The letter stated that they were unhappy with the situation they were forced into over the lawsuit with the software.
To our readers -
Over the last year our discussion forum software became part of a lengthy legal battle between the two people who created it. That lawsuit finally ended and the verdict left the software in the control and hands of a different person than the company we had contracted to serve us. We have been working with the current owner in good faith to agree on a reasonable fee to continue to use the software. Those negotiations over a reasonable fee have rapidly come to an end and since no deal could be made, we legally must stop using the software – immediately.
This has left us no choice but to migrate to different forum software under less than ideal circumstances. After looking at different potential solutions, we have chosen to move to VBulletin. The newest version of VBulletin (4.0) has some very impressive features and the team behind it has been very supportive during this difficult move. We are genuinely excited about this upgrade and all the new feature everyone will be able to tap into.
I want to get it out there up front that because of the extreme time crunch on this migration we are going to have a number of potential issues till we get all of the pieces (hardware, software, performance enhancements, search and more) in place. We will work on getting things back to normal as soon as we can, but at the end of the day we are moving into a new house and things are going to feel a little different. Rest assured that all the furniture is moving with us and everything will eventually be moved over.
While we are unhappy that we’ve had to make this move so quickly and under less than ideal circumstances, we are excited at the same time about all the new features. During this transition period we will do our best to communicate what is going on and where we are at on a regular basis. We’ll post updates here, in the forums and on our Facebook pages. [...]
Thanks for listening and thanks for all the years of support.
- Jamie, George, Chuck, Anthony, Bryan, Stu and Dan

Today, Apple hosted a special ‘Sneak Preview’ presentation of the next generation iPhone Software.
“iPhone OS 4 is the fourth major release of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re delivering over 100 new features, including multitasking, folders, a unified inbox, deeper Enterprise support, and an iPhone version of our iBooks reader and online iBookstore.”
During the keynote, Steve Jobs shared the stage with Scott Forstall, Senior VP of iPhone Software. Forstall hit on the key background APIs that allows iPhone OS 4 to handle the load of multitasking, and while the technology is there, I just don’t feel impressed by the idea or its execution. I hope this is a switchable function of the OS, but I doubt that it will be.

Today I recieved my suspension parts from ECS Tuning.
I placed a fairly large order with them a few days ago after I found out from the dealership that the front suspension was sagging a bit.
I ordered a Stage 2 Refresh kit as well as H&R’s OE Sport Springs for my 2000 Golf.
The springs are going to lower the front of the car by about an inch, and the rear by half an inch. It’s a subtle change, but I like it.
I should be posting more about the project later once I tear into it and start the process, for now though, I have posted a picture of said parts.

Touareg debuts with hybrid drive and high-tech range of engines
Volkswagen SUV is 208 kilograms lighter and 20 percent more fuel efficient

WOLFSBURG/MUNICH — Volkswagen is unveiling the completely redeveloped Touareg as a world premiere. It is the most technically innovative “VW” since the brand has been in existence. This Touareg is reinterpreting the fascinating multipurpose SUV idea in a contemporary way – thanks to a range of engines that are nearly 20 percent more fuel efficient and a large variety of new assistance and safety systems. The Touareg will also be the first and only off-roader in Europe by a German car maker to be available in a hybrid version too. It sets standards among fully off-road capable SUVs with petrol engines that have a fuel consumption value of just 8.2 litres fuel per 100 kilometres. The Touareg Hybrid can be driven up to 50 km/h in purely electric mode – emissions-free. Among the diesel engines, the Touareg V6 TDI with 7.4 litre combined fuel consumption now posts the best value in the segment of genuine SUVs. Both versions, the Touareg Hybrid and V6 TDI, are the most fuel efficient petrol and diesel SUVs ever built in Europe in this large vehicle class. » Read more: World Premiere: New Touareg Takes the SUV into the Future

As I’m sure you’re already aware, Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, announced their latest creation, their rendition of a tablet computer – the iPad. As with all of Apple’s hardware announcements, the whole technological world is up in arms about this new “magical” device to come from the Cupertino-based company.
Despite the “majestic” stance Apple seems to have, we all have to remember, they’re just another technology company. Sometimes flawed by design aesthetics or lack of through hardware testing (as with the MagSafe Power Adaptor or Apple TimeCapsule), Apple does have a tendency to leave out the most obvious of hardware features. » Read more: Short Comings of Apple’s Tablet
