“Mobile is a keyword for Fujitsu’s iPad, too,” Mr. Yamane said [in the New York Times article] “With the iPad, workers don’t have to keep running back to a computer. They have everything right at their fingertips.”
~ Quoted from the New York Times article
While Fujitsu originally trademarked the device’s name back in 2002, the Tokyo corporation has abandoned the “IPad” name as of 2009 according to the U.S. Patient and Trademark Offices. Fujitsu, however, clams to have revived the name in June 2009.
I guess we’ll see how things play out over the next 60 days as Apple gets the FCC’s approval, gets the lawsuit taken care of, patches up the first version of the “iPad OS 1.0″, and gets packaging squared away.
I do hope for Fujitsu’s sake they can hold on to their trademarked name. I’m really not a fan of the “iPad” name for Apple’s device.
